Trip to MN...whaaaat?

Pretty sure I'm insane for scheduling a work trip to Minnesota mid-January. It was -11 degrees at one point during the day. I mean, really?! It's so cold the snow never melts. The roads were pretty clear, but everywhere you look was snow. Crazy!

I was there for 2 1/2 days and was never warm, even with Ugg boots, gloves, down jacket and a scarf. Happy to come home to 75 degree weather. I loooooove California!

I was lucky enough to cuddle with an adorable Maltese named, Mimi on the way home. It was her first plane ride and she did great! A nice treat since I was homesick for my Bubbas.

Happy to be home. :)

Mean Girls 2 Premier!

As an excuse to get together, drink wine, eat cupcakes and celebrate pink, I hosted a Mean Girls 2 party!

The 'sequel'came out (on ABC Family) and we knew it wouldn't be great. We didn't care...and good thing. For some reason it started at 7pm on DISH, not 8. Whoopsie. :)

The DVD comes out Feb. 1 and we all decided it wouldn't be joining any of our collections. :)

Cheers to pink!!!!

Dear Husband...

I would like to apologize for pulling the old "Bait and Switch." When you married me, I was much thinner. Then we got married and I started baking and cooking yummy things. So now you have a larger version of me. You'll get the old me back. Soon. I promise.

Love,
Mrs. Awesome

Peanut Butter and Pumpkin Dog Treats!

I found a fantastic recipe for homemade dog treats. We like to eat things without preservatives...why shouldn't our pets?! This was super easy, and I actually had everything on hand. It says to bake for 40 minutes, but my Prince likes his treats a little chewy...I did 20 minutes, added extra peanut butter and a little more cinnamon. Enjoy!!!!

Ingredients:

2 1/2 C Whole Wheat Flour
2 Eggs
1/2 C canned pumpkin
2 TBSP Peanut Butter (I added 2 more!)
1/2 TSP Salt
1/2 TSP Ground Cinnamon (I added another 1/2)

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350
2. Whisk together ingredients in large bowl. Add water as needed to help make the dough workable, but dough should be dry and stiff. (We used our hands to knead!)
3. Roll dough 1/2 inch thick and cut into pieces. (I used a tiny heart cookie cutter for my little one. Bigger dogs might like a larger portion.) :)
4. Bake until hard, about 40 minutes. (I did 20 for a softer treat)
5. Enjoy!

Happy 60th Mom!

Yesterday, Mr. Awesome and I threw a surprise birthday party for my mom. It was a huge success and she had no idea! Will post pics soon!

This morning we celebrated her actual birthday with brunch. They brought a birthday biscuit for the occasion. :)

Bachelorette Fantasy League!

Yep, there is such a thing. And it makes me happy.

Kindle! Kindle! Kindle!

So Santa granted my wish and I got a Kindle for Christmas! Yayayay!

Now, I didn't get a case to go with it at first because there are so many options. Skins, covers, zip up bags, dust covers, etc. I finally made a decision, and I'm pretty excited about it. It should be here next week and I can't wait. Pink and polka dots make me happy.

Happy Reading!

p.s. I'm currently reading "Water for Elephants" and it's amazing so far!

Mr. Awesome Doppelganger?

So, it took me a glass (maybe a couple) of wine to realize that my husband kind of resembles a judge on the show "Chopped" on Food Network. Have you seen this show? if not, DVR it now. It's amazing! Four chefs compete to be the "Chopped Champion" and they must use all ingredients in a mystery basket. First is appetizer, then entree, and ending with dessert. It's awesome to see what these talented judges come up with to make a delicious meal. Did I mention it's timed? Suspense!

Anyway, I now call Mr. Awesome "The Pasta Guy" because that is what Scott has dubbed himself. Obviously, I think Mr. Awesome is much (much) more handsome. But a teeeeensy bit alike? Anyone?

What do you think?
