I think I'm getting the black lung, Pop

If you see a horse faced makeup guru angrily dragging a man that has the most regular bowels on the planet by his feet, you're witnessing the result of a "Dr." making crazy claims against Bare Escentuals, one of the most popular makeup brands. Not to mention it's my favorite!!!

According to Dr. Oz, he's saying the minerals in the makeup could actually damage and scar lungs. Whaaaat? Now, note the part that says there are NO ACTUAL STUDIES to prove this, it's just a potential risk.

Mineral makeup is a big trend. Made from minerals such as mica, which are used for industrial purposes as well, these tiny particles are a thousand times smaller than predecessors from even 10 years ago. Their small size makes for a smoother, more flawless look, but it has one serious unintended consequence. The particles are so tiny they fall quickly through the air and can be inhaled easily into your lungs. When construction workers use mica in products such as spackle, they wear masks to protect their lungs from scarring over time. Though there are no studies showing damage from makeup use to date, experts say the long-term use and inhalation of minerals in makeup can lead to inflammation, irritation, and lung disease in women and girls.
So here's to not inhaling. I'm Team BE.

...and here's Zoolander, just for fun.

[after being in a coal mine for a dayDerek Zoolander: [high-pitched cough] ... I think I'm getting the Black Lung, Pop. It's not very well ventilated down there.
Larry Zoolander: For Christ's sake, Derek, you've been down there one day. Talk to me in thirty years

Emailing in the SHOWER?

Mr. Awesome is pretty awesome...but I don't know about this one. I kind of like having a few minutes to use my pink loofah, exfoliate and use the 15 shower gels I just had to have. But you heard it here first folks...

I'm Now a Brunette!

Not sure how I am feeling about this. I haven't been this color since I was in 7th grade. No really. I went to Trader Joe's and just felt like I blended in. Being blonde makes you feel so pretty and awesome. Ok, that could be just my own thoughts haunting me from Junior High.  I learned what highlights, makeup and a hair dryer can really do. And voila!, here I am today. Now since I have all these beauty tools in my arsenal, I'm definitely working it. I've recieved many compliments on my skin and my eyes, which I never really had before. Hmmmm, maybe I'll stick this out for awhile. You know, like 4-6 weeks until I go back for another appointment.

Impromptu Trip!

Mr. Awesome's brother will be in Monterey for a few hours on Sunday. This is a big deal because he lives in Germany! We're making a weekend out of it and heading down to spend some time on the beautiful coast of California.

It's been about 10 years since either of us have been, ok maybe a little longer, and neither of us are that excited to hit up the aquarium. I've seen the one at Marine World...good enough for me. So, not knowing what exactly to do, I Google (sorry, K) activities in Monterey. This is what comes up:

WAIT...Smiley Orca Face Painting?! Yessssssss please! That sounds just fantastic. No, no it doesn't. WTF is this crap? I mean, come on, Defense Security and the Student Activities office of a Junior College come up? This sounds HORRIBLE. Is it too late to cancel our reservation? No?...We have to go? Ok, I'll keep looking...

Ok, ok, this does look amazing. I hear there is good shopping and cute cafe's also. Twist my arm!

Bachelor Predictions

Ok, for those of you who follow the Bachelor, you know what I'm talking about. Here is how I see it going down:

Top 3: Ali, Tenley, Gia
Top 2: Ali, Tenley

New Fiance that may or not work out in the real world of camping, hot dogs and planes:

Ah-dorable Ali. She's sweet, but also has an edge. I like it!

And although not super trashy, I think Tenley will be the next Bachelorette. I think she's ready to mingle and show her ex he's an idiot.

You heard it here first folks. Mrs. Awesome will be right. And if I am, well..actually nothing will happen. I will be right, which will be awesome enough for me.

Old Friends, New Relationships

Over the past few months I have re-kindled relationships with old friends. One we met when I was 6 and the other when I was 19. Both of these women have had influences on me and had something to do with who I am today.

My oldest friend and I drifted apart because I moved to Northern California (no, I don't say hella!), so for obvious reasons, it was hard to stay in touch. We each had our own lives and went our seperate ways. I do remember picking out our senior prom dresses together one weekend! Soooooo many stores, but luckily we each found our dream dress. I think this is when I started my negiotiation skills. I wanted a $400 dress, so the $200 dress seemed like a steal! Now, years later we have connected again and through Facebook  email and texting, and we have been able to keep in touch. I'm happy we are because that friendship was such a large part of my childhood. It's nice to have it back. :)

I think we're about 10 here. Check out my super sweet bangs and killer watch!

My other friend has come into my life again, after years of drifting apart as well. Not quite as clear on why this one happened...I think it had to do with finding out who we were and dealing with our personal issues. We had many good times together, including trips to Vegas, (trying to) cheat off her in math class, mixers, clam bakes, trips to the cape! Ok, the last 3 may or may not be from Legally Blonde, but we WERE in a sorority so it's in my blood. Anyway, it seems as though we are in a similar place now and have re-discovered why we were friends in the first place. We're both really funny and make ourselves feel better by laughing about the misfortunes of others. You know, like the cast of Jersey Shore?

Anyway, bringing these two women back in my life is a great start to 2010. Can't wait to see what the future holds!

I'm with CoCo!

Can't wait until he has another show. Plus, any man that thinks a giant sized maturbating bear is funny, is ok in my book.

For Kaila

This post is for my lovah, Kaila. She posted THIS awhile back and I realized Toby has the same sweater. We did photo shoot with him and I think it turned out better, don't you? How do I get my dog in modeling? I'm not too proud to sell him out.

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is my self-proclaimed Awesome Momesome's birthday! I'm excited to spend the day shopping, gabbing and rounding out the night with a delicious meal at Fat's. Love you so much!

For Dog Owners or Dog Lovers

Having a Maltese definitely has good points and bad points. Good thing: they don't shed. Bad thing: constant grooming! Since groomers feel the need to charge upwards of $50 for a haircut and bath for the Big Man, we decided we could do it cheaper better. This has led to purchasing TONS of different shampoo's, conditioners, dry shampoo's etc. All of them leave this funky smell, even after he gets blow dried. (You know what I mean)

However my friends, the Pet Head, Fears for Tears Shampoo and the Furtastic Conditioner are ahhh-mazing. No joke. The conditioner makes his coat so soft and shiny, and smells so delicious. So delicious in fact, I've been tempted to try it out myself. Ok, I haven't but I've definitely thought about it. Maaaaybe in a pinch. Anyway, highly suggest this. You can purchase at your local Petsmart, Target or cutesy doggie couture boutique.

Happy Washing!
