Head...Shoulders...Fro's...and Balls

Troy Polamalu of the Steelers and his Fro

Normally I don't care much about sports unless it involves someone hot, and/or they are dating a celeb that I care about. This however was just too much to pass up!

Apparently a football player, Troy Polamalu of the Steelers, has his hair insured for $1 million by Head and Shoulders. Wait...they still make shampoo?

I would give him $1 million just to cut that thing. I'd finance it. Could you imagine showering next to this guy in the locker room? Or what his brush looks like? Not to mention his couch, bed and shower drain with all that shedding going on. I mean, how much shampoo does this guy go through? A liter a week? Does he condition? Clarify once a week? Good thing he's sponsored! AND how the heck does he fit that under a football helmet? Seriously, think about it. He must have a specially made one. A Fromet. Fro + Helmet = Fromet. See what I did there? He's only 5'10" so maybe he is trying to compensate for other things and grow a few inches...in height. Maybe I should give him Hair Goddess' number to get a Keratin treatment? Somehow, I don't think even that would help.

I think he's actually a bad decision to have on the team. The other teams run faster and with fear to avoid that lice infested mop of his. You KNOW Tom Brady is dodging that hot mess full of crabs, lice, and dandruff in fear of tainting his luscious locks. I guess when you aren't a hot quarterback (Tom Brady, Tony Romo) or a sexy Wide Receiver (T.O.), you have to do something to stand out.

You Fro Boy.

Weekend Recap!

In my aforementioned post, we celebrated our anniversary this weekend by heading down to San Francisco. It's one of our favorite cities, and it's so close by. Wonderful for a weekend getaway. :)

Golden Gate Bridge

We started out in the Marina District and wandered around the cute shops and saw more dogs and Patagonia gear than I thought possible. Definitely the place I belong should I ever live in the city! Of course they had a doggie store, and we picked up a peanut butter bon bon for Tobers. He LOVED it!

I had been craving a cupcake for about a month, and was super excited to try out a bakery I heard so much about, Kara's Cupcakes. Kara did not disappoint. I had the peanut butter/chocolate and Mr. Awesome had the lemoney lemon. We shared of course and it was delicious!

Kara was on "Cupcake Wars!"

After walking around for a little more, we headed over to the Palace Hotel-gorgeous! (For Home Alone fans, this is the SF version!) We took the scenic route and tried to go down Lombard Street (Most Crooked Street in the World!) but that was a mistake. Literally cars were lined up for miles. Not that important to us!

The Palace Hotel, San Francisco

For dinner, we went to this amazing Greek restaurant called Kokkari. To die for! We ordered two appetizers because we heard so many great things. We had the calamari stuffed with Greek cheese and zucchini cakes. Highly recommended! We also shared a bottle of the Pezzi King Cabernet and it was amazing. All in all a wonderful meal!

Kokkari is in the Financial District

Then we headed to a bar that our friend from college bartends at. He is very passionate about mixology and created a secret menu for his regulars. I had a "1454" which all I know had strawberries and fresh basil in it. Delicious! He made a Schnoebsmash for Mr. Awesome, and had some sort of whiskey in it. I liked it obviously. If you live in the area, check out Savoy Tivoli and ask for Kyle with the 'stache. You won't be disappointed.

Sunday we slept in, had lunch and did some shopping. Wonderful way to spend our 1st Anniversary together! Cheers to marriage!

Happy Anniversary to Us!

On August 22, Mr. Awesome and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary!

I can't believe it's been a year already, and I am happy to be a wife and not a bride. It's such a stressful time, but I wouldn't change it for the world!!!! We did save the top of our cake and ate it on Sunday. It tasted AMAZING and fresh. I was expecting it to be freezer-burned and disgusting, but was pleasantly surprised.

And of course, thank you to my amazingly wonderful friends and family who shared in our special day. We would not be here without you!

Happy Anniversary, and here's to 80 more!

Weekend Wrap Up!

Why do the weekends always go by so fast? Whoever decided a 5 day work week was normal was seriously disturbed. I think 4 is juuuuuust right. Don't you agree?

Friday night Mr. Awesome and I went to Sushi with some friends. The wait was about an hour, so we went next door to have drinks while we waited. Natch....We then proceeded to order Sake and Sapporo for the whole table. I opted to stick with my Chardonnay and they did not disappoint with the pour. I barely had to tip the glass it was so full. I'd say it was about 2 1/2 glasses worth. No complaints here. We continued the party at Amy's house and had ridiculous conversation that may or may not have included the "Teach Me How To Dougie" song. Always a great night cap.

Saturday we slept in, had lunch at one of our favorite places downtown (Pronto) and helped some friends move in. (Yep, we like them THAT much) So happy to have these crazy kids living close to us again! :) Looking forward to many fun events with these two.

Mashley...

Saturday night, in a search for all things fried and chocolate covered bacon, we headed up to a local fair. It's definitely in the woods and as my friend said, "It feels like we're camping." It had the usual...random booths, animals, carnies and TONS OF TIE DYE. I mean, mounds and mounds of tie dye. Crazy amounts. After the fair, we celebrated a 21st birthday. He turned 21 at midnight and the bouncer didn't flinch when he came in at 11:30. Love it!

Sunday we went to brunch with Momma Awesome, went to Costco and EXERCISED. Talk about a weekend of eating. I need a detox after that one.

A wonderful weekend with amazing friends and family. Hope yours was great too!!!

Keratin...Before and After

It's almost time for my next Keratin treatment. These pictures are embarrassing, but I'm hoping it will help prevent others from suffering with naturally curly hair.

I should be a saint. You're welcome.

Mr. Awesome: Did you get a perscription for Ambien today?
Me: No, apparently gyno's don't perscribe that...I asked.

Favorite Friday's...De-Stressing!

Favorite Fridays

Favorite Friday's...Favorite Way to De-Stress

I looooove getting massages and facials! It's so relaxing and you have nothing else to think about...

Another (less indulgent) favorite is curling in bed with the fan on high and reading a good book.

Currently I'm reading "My Horizontal Life" by Chelsea Handler. Next up is "Pretty in Plaid" by Jen Lancaster.

My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One-Night Stands

Pretty in Plaid: A Life, A Witch, and a Wardrobe, or, the Wonder Years Before the Condescending, Egomaniacal, Self-Centered Smart-Ass Phase

To join in the fun, head over to Jen's blog!

Bachelor Pad

I'm so happy the execs over at ABC realized we love watching beautiful/crazy/unstable people search for love. And what better premise than taking the most drama-filled contestants and putting them together in a house. I mean...genius really.

I can't believe this is only the first season. Bring on the heartbreak, hookups, tears and roses.

Favorite Friday's...Friends Character!

Favorite Friends Character...JOEY!

Well, since this is one of my ALL-TIME favorite shows, I thought about this for a long time. All of them have hilarious and lovable qualities, but there is just something about Joey!

He is hysterical, constantly auditioning for ridiculous acting roles, always borrowing money, in love with food (sandwiches!!!!), an incessant flirt and down right good guy.

How could you not love Joey?!

Some of my favorite quotes:

Of course...."How You Doin'"

Joey: In my spare time, I, uh, read to the blind. And I'm also a mento for kids.
Interviewer: A "mento"?
Joey: You know, a mento. A role model.
Interviewer: A men…to.
Joey: Right.
Interviewer: Like the candy?
Joey: As a matter of fact, I do.

I believe this is the episode he puts the raw turkey on his head. Hilarious!

Monica: Also, just so you know, I'm not making a turkey this year.
Joey: What?
Monica: Well, Phoebe doesn't eat turkey...
Joey: Phoebe!
Phoebe: Turkeys are beautiful, intelligent animals.
Joey: No, they're not! They're ugly and stupid and delicious!

Joey: The question, Rachel, is this: does he like you? Otherwise, it's just a moo point.
Rachel: A moo point?
Joey: You know, like a cow's opinion. It doesn't matter. It's moo.
Rachel: Have I been living with him too long, or did all that just make sense?

Joey: If the Homo sapiens were, in fact, homo sapiens, is that why they're extinct?
Ross: Joey, Homo sapiens are people.
Joey: Hey hey, I'm not judging!

Aaaaand my favorite quote:

Ross: Meat on a dessert? That is not possible.
Joey Tribbiani: I know, and only one layer of jam? What is up with that?
Ross: It tastes like feet!
Joey Tribbiani: Well, I like it.
Ross: Are you kidding?
Joey Tribbiani: I mean, what's not to like? Custard, good. Jam, good. Meat, good!

Weekend in Review

Yes, I realize it's Wednesday but I wanted to re-cap the amazing events that took place....

Friday night, we went to the Rivercats game to cheer on our favorite hot close AAA baseball team. We wanted to get the party started early (read cheaper than $8 a beer) so we decided to tailgate beforehand. BIG MISTAKE. Apparently Yolo county prohibits tailgaiting. I didn't even know that was a law? Well, now you know.

We finished up our beverages and headed in for $1 hot dog night! I of course had my pink claw ready to cheer on the team. It makes it diffucult to carry a hot dog and beer though. :) We ended up giving the claw to the little boy in front of us because he LOVED LOVED LOVED the thing and I couldn't bear taking it back from him.

After that we headed over to a local sushi restaurant because Mr. Awesome's friends were there. Fun times. There were maraschino cherries, diet coke, tunnels, roofie colada's and male on male slow dancing going on. Fun way to end a Friday.

Saturday we went to brunch with the in-laws and ran a couple errands. Then we came home cleaned the house and I napped for a couple hours. Ahhhhh. We met up with some friends at our favorite Mexican place and enjoyed delicious margaritas! We decided against bowling or mini-golf, and ended up going to the Indian casino nearby that just recently expanded.

We all agreed it would be a great idea to have a few drinks in the car beforehand. Again, we thought it would be cheaper. Yes, I realize we aren't 18 and don't need to do this anymore, but it sounded fun. Then we got a booth and proceeded to drink until 1:30am. Let's just say, tequila, champagne and vodka don't go so well together.

One of the most hilarious comments of the night was when two guys asked if my Asian friend, Jen was Party Pics! I almost died laughing. I mean, she does have a giant camera with a HUGE flash. I can see how one would be confused.

Needless to say, Sunday was spent relaxing at home. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend too!

Top 2 Tuesday...Simple Pleasures

Top 2 Simple Pleasures

1. Lazy Weekend Days

Don't get me wrong, I love having a fun-filled, jam-packed weekend but it's nice to relax also. Sleeping in, cuddling with the boys, a late brunch, a leisurely bike ride, laying by the pool and watching a movie in an air conditioned house...is a nice change of pace. :)

2. Clean Sheets

There is just something about the warm and crisp feeling of freshly washed sheets. Especially in the winter when they are fresh out of the dryer...love that feeling!

Schedule Much?

While doing my expense report I noticed I visited the same client at the exact same time on two separate occasions. How crazy is that?!

I'm such a creature of habit...i need to mix it up a bit I think. :)
